Before you can start deferring authorisations, you must enable the function in Settings:

  1. Select    Settings on the main screen and enter your manager password.
  2. Select "System Settings" then "Deferred Auth".
  3. Ensure the toggle next to Enable for trust is switched to the "ON" position.
  4. You can now use the  icon to exit settings.

The device is now ready to handle deferred authorisations.

  1. Tap    Sale on the main screen and attempt to process a sale as normal.

Main screen. Trust Payments logo shown at the top, then a large "Sale" button (circled for emphasis) followed by other links.

Screen where the user is prompted to enter the sale amount. They select X to cancel or the check icon to continue.

Screen where the customer presents their card. They can also select the ... icon to type in the card details or X to cancel.

  2. If your device is unable to complete the sale due to a connection problem, you are asked if you would like to defer the authorisation:

    • Select   to cancel the sale.
    • Select   to defer the authorisation until the terminal has reconnected to the internet.

Screen asking the user if they want to defer the authorisation.

By scheduling this transaction for offline processing, you accept the risk that the payment may be declined in the customer's absence. If the authorisation fails, you will be responsible for contacting the customer to arrange alternative payment.

  3. A confirmation message is displayed on screen to confirm the sale has been rescheduled for when the internet connection has been re-established.

Screen showing the sale was approved, followed by the auth code and amount. Select "Continue" to return to the main screen.

Once scheduled, the terminal will regularly check the internet connection and process deferred authorisations when able.

This process runs seamlessly in the background and does not interrupt or otherwise interfere with standard terminal operations.

You can check whether pending deferred authorisations have been processed by going to the Transaction View.
