To enhance security, a new Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) authentication method has been introduced. From 25th March 2025, the existing email authentication method will be removed and all logins must be performed using this new authentication method.
The first time you log into RAM Tool, you will be required to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your user account. Once configured, you will be required to use MFA at login.
RAM Tool uses Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) authentication, an industry standard supported by a wide range of authenticator apps. While any app supporting TOTP can be used for authentication at login, we provide full guidance for those using our recommended apps below.
Authentication is performed by opening the Google Authenticator app installed on your smartphone and typing the 6-digit code provided into the textbox provided in RAM Tool.
Setup
-
When logging in, ensure the "Authenticator" radio button is selected.
- RAM Tool will prompt you to register a new device for authentication. Click "Register Device" to continue.
-
Open the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone.
If don't already have the app, click the button below to download. You will need to log in with your Google account when prompted.
- RAM Tool will ask you to enter a name for the device being registered. Enter a descriptive name and click "Register" to continue.
-
RAM Tool will now display a QR code. In the Google Authenticator app, tap "Scan a QR code". Scan the code with your smartphone's camera and a 6-digit code will be displayed on your phone's screen.
-
Enter this 6-digit code displayed within the Google Authenticator app into the OTP to activate Device field in RAM Tool and click "Activate Device" to complete the setup.
If you're unable to scan the QR code with your smartphone's camera, click "Show" in RAM Tool to display the pairing key on screen. You can then manually type this key into the app.
