The "Bulk Update" feature saves you time by allowing you to update the settle status of multiple pending transactions simultaneously.
Required user roles
The following user roles have access to the Bulk Update feature:
- Admin
- TransactionUser
How to access
This button is shown on the "Transactions" page when one or more transactions are returned in the search results.
How to perform a bulk update
Select transaction(s)
Navigate to “Transactions” in the left navigation menu. Run a search and use the checkboxes on the left-hand side of the results table to select the transactions you wish to update.
Open the bulk update
Select the “Bulk Update” button displayed near the bottom of the page.
If there isn't enough space to display all options, these will be combined into a single “Actions” button. Select this to view all options.
Review the bulk update preview
A panel will open displaying all of your selected transactions, organised into two groups:
- Ineligible for update - listed first
- Eligible for update - listed below
Both groups are ordered by timestamp, with the most recent transactions appearing first. Each transaction is shown with the following details:
| Column | Description |
| Reference | The unique Trust Payments transaction reference |
| Request | The transaction request type, e.g. AUTH |
| Billing Name | The full billing name |
| Order Reference | The order reference assigned by your organisation |
| Amount | The authorised transaction amount |
The "Update" button will remain disabled until you select a settle status from the dropdown.
Eligibility criteria
A transaction must meet all the following criteria to be eligible for a bulk update:
- Processed with a credit or debit card
- Request type of “AUTH” or "REFUND"
- Current settle status is “0”, “1”, or “2”
Transactions that do not meet these criteria will still appear in the panel but cannot be updated.
Select a settle status
Use the dropdown to choose the settle status you wish to apply to all eligible transactions. Selecting a status will enable the "Update" button.
| Status | Description |
| 0 - Pending Settlement | Transaction funds will be captured in the next settlement batch. |
| 1 - Manual Settlement | Transaction funds will be captured in the next settlement batch. If enabled, this will bypass Internal Fraud Checks and Duplicate Checks. |
| 2 - Suspended | Suspended transactions will not be captured in the next settlement batch, allowing time for manual investigation. |
| 3 - Cancelled | Transactions are permanently cancelled and cannot be reinstated. Any funds reserved on the customer's account will be released at a future time, as determined by the issuing bank. |

Submit the update
Once you have selected a settle status, select the “Update” button to process your request.
Update Results
Once the request has been processed, you will be presented with the outcome. There are three possible results:
Fully successful
If all eligible transactions are updated successfully, you will be shown the following:
- A count of all successfully updated transactions and the applied settle status
- The transaction table listing all successfully updated transactions
- A confirmation banner: "Transactions updated successfully"
Fully failed
If all eligible transactions fail to update, you will be shown the following:
- A count of all failed transactions and the selected settle status
- The transaction table listing all transactions that failed to update
- An error banner: "Failed to update [n] of [n] transactions to <settle status>" (e.g. "Failed to update 3 of 3 transactions to Manual Settlement")
Mixed result
If some transactions succeed and others fail, you will be shown the following:
- Failed transactions with a count and the selected settle status
- Successfully updated transactions with a count and the applied settle status
- An error banner: "Failed to update [n] of [n] transactions" (e.g. "Failed to update 1 of 3 transactions")
Retry Failures
When one or more transactions fail to update, the "Update" button is replaced with a "Retry Failures" button.
Selecting "Retry Failures" will re-verify the eligibility of each failed transaction and display the updated results in the transaction table. Only transactions that remain eligible will be retried. Once the re-check is complete, the "Retry Failures" button reverts to the "Update" button, allowing you to adjust the settle status if needed before re-submitting.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter failures during a bulk update, we recommend the following steps:
- Retry using the "Retry Failures" feature - This re-attempts the update against only the failed transactions, as described above.
- Contact our Support Team - If failures persist after retrying, copy the unique "Update Reference" displayed in the bulk update panel and share it with our Support Team. This reference allows our team to identify and investigate the issue efficiently.
