NFC (Near Field Communication) is a short-range wireless technology that allows smartphones and cards to securely send payment data to your host device when held close together, enabling contactless payments.
If you're experiencing issues with processing transactions using our SoftPOS app, please follow these troubleshooting steps:
Ensure that NFC is enabled in your device settings
Follow these steps to ensure that NFC is enabled on your device:
- Open the "Settings" app on your Android device.
- Scroll down and tap "Connected devices" or "Connections".
- Look for a setting called "NFC" or "Near Field Communication" in the list of options.
- If you see a toggle switch next to this setting, this indicates that NFC is available on your device.
- To ensure correct operation of the SoftPOS app, ensure the NFC setting is enabled using the toggle switch.
Tips to improve NFC connectivity
Keep the card or phone steady and in contact with the device for a few seconds.
If the transaction fails, try again.
Remove any thick cases or metal objects that may interfere with the NFC signal.
Check that you have a stable internet connection.
Check that OS software is up to date on the host device.
Try restarting your device.
When the customer is making a payment, ask them to place their card or smartphone directly next to the NFC chip on the host device. Please be aware that the location of the NFC chip varies depending on the device. Refer to the below for further guidance:
