What's in the Box?

Before starting to use your terminal, it is recommended that you take a few moments to check the contents of the box. Your POS package should include the following:

  • Castles PIN Pad device
  • Power supply
  • Terminal user guide

First Time Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Castles PIN Pad for the first time:

  1. Connect the terminal to the power supply by inserting the enclosed cable into the port on the left side of the device, near the top. When connected to power, the device will turn on automatically.
  2. Connect the terminal to the kiosk using a USB-C connection.
  3. Connect the terminal to LAN using an ethernet cable.
  4. Turn on the kiosk and ensure it is connected to the PIN Pad using the USB cable from earlier.
  5. Wait for both devices to connect automatically. Once connected, your setup is ready to process transactions.
  To turn off the PIN Pad, you can safely remove the power cable once you have ensured a sale isn't still in progress.

Software Updates

It is best practice to ensure your device remains up to date with the latest software updates in order to maintain both reliability and security.

When connected to a power source, the device will periodically check for software updates and install them automatically. Please ensure the device remains connected to the internet for updates to be downloaded and installed.

Sale

When the customer is ready to pay, they will be prompted to insert their card or tap for contactless.

  • If the transaction was processed successfully, a confirmation message is displayed on screen and a receipt is printed for the customer.
  • If the transaction fails (e.g. due to a decline), an error will be shown on the display.
  If a contactless card purchase is attempted for an amount greater than the Cardholder Verification Method (CVM) contactless limit applied to the card, the customer will be prompted to enter their PIN to complete the sale.
